Having this lines on your debian /etc/apt/sources.list will allow you to install debian pure data packages through apt-get:


deb http://sindominio.net/~caedes/debian/ unstable main
deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ unstable main

Then zou do:

apt-get update
apt-get install delvj

This is one of the simplest patches, for you to understand how they work. Just download it to your machine, and then you can open it with pure data. It's called firstpd.pd

from the terminal, the command is simply
pd firstpd.pd

PD allows you to play with a lot of information, you can mix it and create things with:

-communication with other pd's over tcp/udp [netsend/netreceive]
-shell in/out [pdsend/pdreceive]
-Open Sound Control, Flosc
-audio stream in/out
-video stream in/out
-serial/parallel port in/out
-midi
-hid devices (keyboard, mouse, joystick, ...)
-multichannel audio (alsa/jack, asio)
-browser plugin iARS (developed upstairs)

Pure Data (PD) is a real-time graphical programming environment
for audio, video, and graphical processing
It is extendable by st of plug-ins, writing object classes ("externals") or patches ("abstractions")
It's similar to Max/MSP, and it works on Win / Linux / MacOS X / IRIX
It's open source and gives you a lot of possibilities to create, and to share tools with / from other developers.
