creative workshop on doing radio
the karasssuite is one of the projects i am currently working on. it is a collaborative project of a bunch of artists, using a database for their works, to exchange, transform and of course upload them. the karasssuite is based on kurt vonnegut's book 'Cat's Craddle' and on quotes out of the book. so for the radioshow we will work with literary material and transform it in various ways.
The database and the material will be the starting point for creation and putting it together in the form of a radioshow.
within one and a half days we deal with this material and put it in a new form and will stream it by the end of the day (maybe we can use the usb-fm transmitter from the workshop before?! - of course not plugged in but in so called dry-run and for scientifical purposes).
for doing this show we will use all kinds of different software which can be used for making sound. it depends on your ideas, knowledge and what you want to do..... we will surf over easy editing programmes (maybe do the audacity workshop on monday before!) as well as we touch more complex sequencer or looper programmes and we are free to install our own streaming server as well. no pre-knowledge needed. creation through doing!
This workshop is also intended to create an anti-podcast environment. podcast for me has the implication of sole people sitting around and doing radio to tell the world what they've seen.
we will be a group of people sitting around and doing radio to tell the world what we've not seen, but worked on, explored and experienced in a collaborative way. get the radio back where it belongs to - to communities!
no pre-knowledge needed.
