ICT offers possibilities and opportunities for development, but it is meaningful only if their contents reflect local conditions. Localization of ICT is a way of customizing programs and materials to suit the local people, and to have impact on the culture of the local communities and minorities.
It is only when the people understand the language of the technology and see themselves in it that they can make meaningful contributions in it.
Localization involves taking a product and making it linguistically and culturally appropriate to the target local region and language where it will be used and sold. Localization of software facilitates the use of local languages in computer and makes computers accessible to non-English speaking natives.
