UpStage
At /etc 2006, Helen Varley Jamieson taught a workshop using UpStage to create live performance on the internet (cyberformance).
Here is a screenshot from the workshop and the log is attached below.
UpStage is an open source web-based venue for live performance, allowing remote players to manipulate text, graphics and sound in real time for an online audience.
Future open sessions and events are posted here.
Participants (both players and audience) don't need anything other than a browser with the Flash Player plug-in installed. It's easy to use and fun.
The workshop will take place online, at http://upstage.org.nz:8081.
UpStage Introduction: Tuesday 5 September, 9.30am-12.30
Learn how to use UpStage for live online performances and presentations. Suitable for everyone, particularly those interested in using computers as creative tools.
NOTE: if you are using UpStage on Linux you may find that fonts are not appearing on stage. This problem is fixed by installing additional fonts:
- apt-get install gsfonts gsfonts-x11
- and http://tinyurl.com/mrmf5
- close all browsers, run the installer (see installation instructions on the url above)
The UpStage Manual is available to download.
